Further progress should be made on the social inclusion of Roma women 2013. 09. 23. “European institutions, Member States and local authorities must make further efforts to improve the situation of Roma women, which is the most vulnerable social group in Europe” said MEP Joseph Daul, Chairman of the EPP Group and Lívia Járóka rapporteur of the European Roma Strategy. This week, several events will take place both in Brussels, Croatia and Hungary addressing the situation of Roma women in Europe.
Implementation of national Roma strategies in progress – Further efforts needed 2013. 09. 05. The European Commission presented today its two latest documents on the European Roma inclusion process in the European Parliament's Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs. EPP Group MEP Lívia Járóka welcomed both the communication on 'Steps forward in implementing national Roma integration strategies' and the proposal for a Council recommendation on effective Roma integration measures in the Member States as important steps, but emphasized that a number of fundamental weaknesses still needed to be remedied for the success.
Roma Holocaust 2013. 08. 02. Today, on 2 August, victims of the Roma Holocaust are being remembered world-wide. MEP Lívia Járóka with the support of ERIO has initiated a written declaration in the European Parliament to officially declare 2 August as the European Day of Remembrance for Victims of the Roma Holocaust.
